This book focuses on the new problems posed by sports corruption, namely, by virtue of the recent neo-criminalization of Improper Receiving and Offering of Advantage, as well as of Anti-Sports Wagering. Over the years, there have been successive changes in the legal systems governing the corruption of officials, politicians, and sports agents, raising frequent difficulties related to the succession of criminal laws over time, understanding the various forms of corruption, and the articulation of the different legal systems. On the other hand, there is a new community perception of the harmfulness of corruption, which acts as a pressure factor to demand greater effectiveness in punishing such behavior.
